The Garand’s Little Brother, the T-26
In 1944 the T-26 was developed as a shortened carbine version of the M1 Garand. Designed for paratroopers and jungle use, the T-26 was never adopted due to manufacturing issues. Somehow it would be given the name “tanker” even though they were never mean’t to be used by tank crewman. Only 150 would be made.
Today Fulton Armory makes their own reproductions in .30-06 and .308. You can buy your own for around $1,900.
