White-Merril Pistol,
An interesting single action semi-automatic design created in 1907, the White-Merril pistol was a contender for official sidearm of the US Military. A blow back design, it was fed from a ten round magazine. The most interesting feature was the large trigger mechanism located below the trigger guard. Being the pistol is single action, this allowed a user to cock the pistol using his forefingers. Ultimatley the design was passed up for John Browning’s Colt 1911 instead.
